Excellent Product, Great Value March 12, 2010 Lane Aldrich (Warrenton, VA USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I purchased this item from Amazon because it was $20 cheaper than Apple's Internet OR in-Store price. It was delivered to my front door exactly as promised, having saved me any expenditure for gasoline or travel time. It does exactly what it is supposed to do, play music and [...] books either through it's ear phones or my car sound system. The huge capacity is well beyond my anticipated needs, but I enjoy the feeling that I will never have to worry about running out of space for music or books. The fidelity of the music is well beyond what I can hear and the selection of music and books is totally under my control. I often travel with a small trailer and this iPod provides me with music at night through an iHome sound system or books during the day through either the ear phones or my car's sound system. I am very pleased with the entire purchase, delivery, and use process.
Excellent Car Hard Drive March 10, 2010 D. G. Morelock I have purchased many iPods in the past 3 years, given most away so I was down to the most recent iPod Touch. I used the touch primarily for the apps, not so much for music, not sure why that is, perhaps just the lack of space. I recently purchased a Mercedes Benz E Class with the iPod connector. The Benz I have has the upgraded sound system, their Harmon Kardon 7.1 pro, to my surprise the sound is the best I have heard in a car. The sat sound is really poor, sounds like the music is 32kb or at the most 64Kb, really awful, so bad I won't listen to it. CD's are great, but I don't like changing them in the changer, and the cars Hard Drive is small. I connected my iPod touch, the car did not power it, so it would be a waste to leave it in the glove box connected, and it's sound was not good either. I decided to get the Classic 160Gb iPod. I purchased, it came fast in the mail, and I loaded several Gigs of music, the lowest being the 256Kb from iTunes, my CD's I recorded at over 900Kb as .wav files. This iPod sounded like twice the music player as the iPod touch, very noticeable sound difference, far better quality. The music downloaded from iTunes, not great sound, just passable, I really do not like buying such poor quality sound from iTunes, I so much wish they had better quality downloads as I love the convenience and the selection, just the music sound is so not what it should be, and on my system I can hear a big difference. The music I recorded at 320 to the 900Kb all sound so much better, even the slight jump to 320 really makes a difference. The iPod is not great sound, but it is good, and much better than the touch for certain. I believe for mainstream America, the sound quality is very good, I mean people actually sign up for XM and Sirrius for music, and it really is horrible quality, so the iPod is far better than that, but not at the level of a CD for certain. I do like the iPod classic a lot, it charges in the car, I never have to see it and it is a huge music hard drive, I really like the convenience and I can certainly live with the sound quality. I do hope one day Apple will release a studio quality sounding iPod with the ability to download at a minimum a 320Kb song from iTunes, would prefer a 600-900Kb, but will take anything higher than the 256 max they have now.

average sound quality. reliable good amount of space and easy to use..the trackwheel however is a little iffy not always responsive battery life is good however beware that if your music is 320 kbps the battery life will be significantly shortned. i have the latest 160 gig classic model..still worth buying for large music collections
Ipod Classic 160 gigs March 3, 2010 The bad 1 (san jose, ca, usa) 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
I bought this ipod because my old ipod touch broke. The harddrive memory that this ipod provides is amazing ( I have half of it still available). It can't be compare with the ipod touch because of the features, but if you only care about music and videos then this ipod has plenty of space for it. The iPod is solid, but the harddrive does make some noise, kind of weird. Overall this product is great, at a reasonable price.
