Jet mp3 player May 1, 2010 CozGirl2293 (Waterford, CT USA) I had previously purchased 2 of these. Mine works fine but my husband steped on his so I purchased another one for him. This one (after 2 weeks) will not charge and now he is unable to use it at all.
Disappointing waste of money March 28, 2010 A. Lamon Got this last summer when my Ipod shuffle's dock bent a bit so it wouldn't charge. This was cheaper, and supposed to be more rugged (splash resistant...) and all that jazz.
In short:
Buttons break off fast. Programing glitches. Conntects to the computer poorly, it's like playing roulette trying to load new media onto it or delete old stuff. It will drop connection about once every 10 seconds unless you get really lucky. It freezes up often when you unhook it from the computer quite often. The screen cracked easily.
Maybe I got a jacked up one to start with, but I'd advise DON'T BUY THIS, or keep the receipt and return policy handy!
Background on how it broke...
I have a hard time going to sleep, so I listen to audio books so I don't keep looking at the clock every 5 minutes and it helps me relax. I also occasionally jog and bring my mp3 player around the house as I do chores (including laundry and washing dishes...which carries a splash hazard). So I needed something to replace the ipod (ended up having to buy an off brand dock replacement for around $5, and it's working waaay better than this thing...).
With in the first week of owning the thing, and sleeping with it next to the pillow or under it (soft, smooth surfaces), the menu button ripped off, and the thing developed a lot of technical problems. I also had to shove the black plastic piece on the opposite side to the menu button back on a few times too. If a pillow can rip off a button, then what will a sweatshirt do? A am sure that since the button has ripped off it is now vulnerable to water. About a day or two later, I was holding it in my hands and had to free them both quickly. So, I put it in my mouth for a few seconds, and gently holding it with my teeth caused the screen to crack, so I would imagine you don't want to drop this or bump it if you trip while jogging.
The reset button on the back (actually a hole you need something long and thin to stick into it, which of course when you're jogging you always carry a push pin or paper clip...) only half works... don't buy it!
Oh yeah, I got the RCA mp3 player at Wal-Mart. I tried to reveiw it on their website, but it seems they are not selling it anymore. Not surprised.
Good for the price. March 7, 2010 M. Vargas (Denton, TX United States) Just bought one to give it to a girl in the shelter I work.It works great for the purpose I wanted it for. A great price too.
Some troubles January 30, 2010 Wendy Levene The first unit received was faulty...had to pay additional shipping back to RCA for repairs. Armband strap broke within 2 weeks.
Sound quality is fine, however disappointed with armband strap and original unit.
Best bang for the buck October 29, 2009 N. Prisbe If you run and sweat a lot, this is the best thing for both. I have had it for two years in the rain, sweat, and anything else and it's never let me down for [...]. It is small enough to fit in a key pocket, and the simple controls are easy to hit while in your pocket. I am getting another one because the only thing it can't do is not be crushed by a car door :(. Better than a 200+ iPoo'ed
