Accessories July 2, 2010 Steveo (Philly, PA.) BE AWARE!!!!! Item DOES NOT come with silicone case, arm band or neck lariat as the descriptiion leads you to believe.
In general I recommend this device June 30, 2010 Robert S. Hanenberg (San Francisco) I have had four MP3 players. This is a nice one, not perfect but quite good, especially considering the price.
I have been using this device for about six months. There are two things I do not like about it. One is that the controls are symmetrical, so I cannot operate the device by touch. When I want to do something I have to look at it. The second is that I have trouble wearing it around my neck. It has a clip designed for a shirt pocket, but nothing I can attach to a lanyard (other than the clip, which doesn't work too well).
There are many things I like about it. You can use the windows operating system to transfer files. This is not necessary, however, because there is some nice software which automatically loads from the device to the computer when you plug the device into the USB port. The screen layout of the device is clear and contains a great deal of information. The battery charge from the USB port lasts a long time. The file handling on the device is easy.
The thing I like the best is that when you fast-forward, the device speeds up the longer you hold the button down. I like to listen to long files, so this is a nice feature for me. I have not used the radio and voice recorder much, but when I have used them found them easy to use.
I recommend this product.
Almost 4 months since I bought this, it broke. April 18, 2010 T. Griffith (Brooklyn, NY) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This player was great until It broke down on me. I had it since Christmas or a little after and it broke this past week. I do not consider that a good lifespan for an mp3 player. I expect at least a year out of them. Don't get me wrong, the sound and convenience of the U5 us great and all but I can't give this a better review.
Cool Gadget, Good Sound. I could use better instructions. April 8, 2010 frisco mama (San Francisco, CA USA) My Samsung 512MB YP-T7 went dead on me. Well, it had served me well for many years so I went ahead and upgraded to the the U5. Sound quality is quite good. There is a tiny user manual, available at readable size online. It hasn't really helped me a lot. Since I use the player mostly for listening to audio books, I don't need to do a lot of navigating. What I would really like is to find out how to turn off the irritating "powering up" and "powering down" tunes. They have all the lack of charm of the sounds Windows makes on opening or closing until you figure out how to turn those sounds off. I would like to find a way to turn those sounds off on the U5. Even with that problem, I'm giving it 5 stars for doing its job, and just generally being a cool thing.
Great little gadget! March 11, 2010 S. Samuel (Cincinnati, Oh United States) Once you figure out how to use it, it's a great little gadget!! The sound quality is wonderful and I just clip it to the collar of my shirt and go! I love it!
The only problem is, if you haven't used one before, it can get frustrating to figure it out. I couldn't get to the play lists without fiddling with the buttons because it did not come with printed instructions. My husband said they were on the play. 1)If you can't figure out how to get to them, they aren't going to be very helpful, now are they? 2)I never did find them!
