Car-connecting Pack With Self-adjusting Spring Head & Plug-in Connection For On-the-go Use

Amazon.com Product Description
The Sony CPA-9C cassette adaptor allows you to connect your minidisc or CD player to a vehicle cassette player. While this Sony product works best with Sony CD and MD players, the adaptor will operate with non-Sony products as well. There are a couple of key features to this adaptor which make it a fine choice. The first notable feature is the spring-loaded head. The head will automatically adjust itself to your vehicle's cassette deck, ensuring that the two heads have optimum contact and transfer the best possible sound. The second key feature is the silent mechanism. A silent mechanism yields less operational noise and a better quality MD or CD sound. This adaptor works with all cassette players which require you to insert the tape opening facing the side. The mini-plug inserts into a portable CD or MD headphone jack. The cassette adaptor is a cheap way to make your vehicle CD and MD operational.

5 out of 5 stars Great for amplifying GPS   July 26, 2010
Marge Davis (Tennessee)
Makes it a pleasure to listen to the books-on-tape that I've downloaded onto my GPS unit. I suppose any tape adapter might work as well, but this one is affordable pluc it's a Sony.

5 out of 5 stars Great price for a great device   July 20, 2010

I borrowed two similar items from a friend of mine to test out the quality before I bought one for myself - Sony and Monster brands. I eventually purchased a Sony for myself and am very pleased with my decision. The Sony is a high-quality product that (unlike some other brands that I have read about in user reviews and in my experience with the Monster unit) does not make a loud clicking sound as it plays, presumably from the tape player attempting to change to the B side. The sound quality is excellent. I've used the Sony adapter on a few long road trips already without incident and intend to use it for plenty more. Good job Sony.

1 out of 5 stars Compatibility Issues With Autoreverse   July 10, 2010
David R. Keeton
There should be a warning before buying this product that it is not compatible with tape players with the autoreverse sides feature. It never worked in my 1999 Toyota Camry. From the moment I put it in the cassette player, it constantly changed sides until it spit the adapter back out at me.

I had some small hope when I found some instructions on how some people have fixed this issue with other adapters (removing some parts from the inside of the adapter), but there were two problems:
1. The cassette tape was stuck together with an adhesive, and not screwed together.
2. Once I got inside of it, it didn't have the part mentioned in most tutorials I found.

If you're looking to replace your current cassette adapter because of the autoreverse problem, do NOT buy this one. Buy a different one or try to fix your current cassette with this guide:

5 out of 5 stars works exactly as i expected   July 10, 2010

this works just as i thought it would. i can only hear the tape making noise when the volume is at its lowest setting, but usually road noise drowns it out completely and with the volume turned up to a comfortable level you cant hear the tape at all even when the cars not running. i did accidentally hit the skip button on my cassette player and it wouldn't stop searching until i turned the radio off and turned it back on, but that just may be a flaw with my cars radio (94 crown vic lx stock radio) I use this for my ipod classic and my only complaint is the headphone jack is a 90 degree elbow rather than straight so the wire comes out at a strange angle but that's fine. i prefer this to the FM transmitters because i never loose reception or get other stations cutting into my music. the sound is great, far better quality than i expected.

1 out of 5 stars Didn't Work with my 2003 VW Jetta   June 27, 2010
Sina (Houston, TX)
I bought this to play the music in my Mp3 player inside my car. When I first put it in, I was taken back by the horrible sound quality. The volume was extremely low, the adapter itself made a loud mechanical sound, and there was a lot of background noise. After about 30 seconds or so, my Monsoon sound system showed an error on the screen and spit the adapter out. Maybe I just had a bad one, but if this is how all of them are, you're better off with an FM transmitter.
