5 out of 5 stars Nice warm sound   March 24, 2010

I've been using the CX400 earphones for more than a month, and here are my observations:

- The cord quality is decent, I like the Y cable better than the 'asymmetrical' earphone cables.

- The plug is very good, it is thick and appears to be relatively 'indestructible'.

- The earphones come with a cord saver, a pouch, and a clip (for the cord).

- The cord saver partially works, but I think many would find it useless.

- The cord saver protects the phones, and may save them if you were to step on them (for example.)

- The sound isolation is good, but not the best.

- The Klipsch earphones I have have better isolation.

- The bud does not extend far into the ear canal like many Klipsch earphones.

- Since the bud rests outside the ear canal, it makes them very comfortable to wear for long periods of time, but they are more susceptible to falling out.

- The ear fit is good enough to keep them in place for walking and for light exercise -- while walking they have never fallen out.

- After using the small 'dual flange' adapters for 2 weeks, I switched to the medium dual flange adapters.

- The medium adapters improved the sound quality and bass.

- With my Sandisk Clip+ MP3, the 5 band equalizer is set to +25%, +15%, 0%, 0%, +5% (from low to high frequency).

- The volume is set to 80% for comfortable all-around listening.

Comparing to the Sennheiser CX680 earphones I also own:

- The CX680 have a little better overall sound in high and mid range, however there is more bass with the CX400.

- The CX680 sounds tighter and more accurate, and the CX400 sounds warmer.

- The CX680 has much better quality cable -- it's awesome (maybe except for the color.)

- The CX680's ear 'stop' feature works well to keep the earphones in your ears while exercising.

- If you can stand the neon yellow cables on the CX680, and you are do not need extra bass, the CX680 may be a better value.

5 out of 5 stars Great earphones   February 26, 2010

Sennheiser CX-400T MK II is a great in-ear headset! The sound is well rounded and if you like a little more bass these will accommodate (depending on your EQ settings). Best of all it fits the Iphone! I used to have the Bose in-ear and those are great also however one side intermittently stopped working (cord issue) so I had to search for another pair. I have Sennheiser headphones for regular listening so decided to try these out (I use them at the Gym) and love them. One thing I read was you could hear the cord moving kind of like a microphone while you are doing cardio, this is true however when the music is on you cant hear it and it fits in the ear well so you cant really hear the noise from everyone around you. So I think its a minor issue.

3 out of 5 stars Not Impressed....Treble is ear piercing   February 18, 2010

I recently purchased these ear buds to replace my Sennheiser MX550's which are a good product for the price. I read the reviews about the treble being to much with the CX400's and they are TRUE. My reasoning for purchase was an increase in low frequency response which is allegedly gained through the closure of the ear bud within the ear. I listen to a wide variety of music from hip-hop to Andrea Bocelli and these headphones are not up to par. The bass is not a noticeable increase from the 550's and the high frequency's are ear piercing at even moderate volume levels. I would prefer the MX 500's I picked up on eBay for under $15. Would not recommend these ear buds to anyone.

2 out of 5 stars buyers remorse   January 30, 2010

I just got these in the mail today, and have been listening to music all day with stock iPhone headphones... anticipating these CX400 II headphones to arrive. However, I'm pretty disappointed in these. They don't have a rich warm sound like I would have imagined, but a rather tinty sound. Too much harsh treble for my taste! I'm not sure what it is about these but on a side by side comparison I'd have to say I prefer the iPhone headphones. In my opinion I think they fit better and sound better. I'm sorry... I really wanted to get some nice headphones that would beat Apple, but I don't know if these are gonna do it & hoping for something with the lo-profile that this product offers with awesome sound quality. I'm getting a pair of old school headphones!

In Summary, if you like obnoxiously crisp treble in your ears go with these... I'm really sorry I bought these! If I could, I would return them in a heartbeat! Don't trust products just because they're a notable brand. :(

Couldn't be happier. You CANNOT max out the volume on a NANO with these without pain. Thumping bass and crisp drums. Two words: Green Day...
